On the Upper East Side, a couple created a tranquil Japanese garden, complete with a teahouse and a traditional tsukubai, or stone water basin, atop their four-story townhouse. Bamboo fences, hemlock, cherry trees, and Japanese pines provide shade for the moss lawn and privacy for the owners.”
