ELEANOR’s DREAMS (2011): Part of my Pieces of Dreams series, this speaks of spring and spring flowers. It is made from recycled wool sweaters which I shrink in hot, soapy water, to make a thick wool felt; and it is embellished with many stitches and vintage buttons; 6” x 6”.
PIECES OF DREAMS (2003). Felted wool (which I make from old sweaters), vintage velvet from an abandoned church rectory (a gift from the pastor), wool thread, silk thread, antique buttons (mother-of-pearl, vegetable ivory, cut steel, rhinestone, paste, china, cloth, brass, etc.), antique seed pearls, Austrian crystal beads, miniature jingle bells; 14.5” x 14.5”.
This piece grew over a period of years and it was a wonderful experience.
Chosen for publication in the book 500 Felt Objects: Creative Explorations of a Remarkable Material (Lark Press).
